There is no proof that Kerry had any direct knowledge of any war crimes, and in fact he's been cited as saying that his information was based on hearsay, not on personal knowledge.

Basically, he was a gossip monger maligning troops for things he had no personal knowledge of, and most of which no reputable source has ever been able to verify.
