WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Seven brokerage firms will pay $3.65 million to settle Securities and Exchange Commission claims of conflicts of interest involving research on public companies during the most-recent stock market boom.

Needham & Co. , of New York, will pay a $700,000 settlement covering four payments for research on companies such as Crossroads Systems Inc. (CRDS), and Endwave Corp. (ENWV), while Boston-based Adams Harkness will pay $575,000 to settle allegations it took three payments, including a $200,000 fee for research on Gasonics International Corp. and a $150,000 fee for research on Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc. (KLIC). |
