So what? Paying taxes is one of the cost of doing businesses just like paying the rent.

You choose what to rent or even if you want to rent. The difference between being force to pay something, and paying it because you decide you want to is no a "so what" issue.

Businesses can choose to locate their production facilities outside the US.....and some do. Some move their corp. headquarters to places like Bermuda to avoid US taxes completely. Most American CEOs see that is being disloyal to the US but then there are some who just hate to pay taxes to anyone. Those are the ones who move offshore. Frankly, I don't like those companies and do not buy their products.

In turn, the gov't makes sure the electricity gets generated

Electricity is mostly generated by private companies. Regulated companies to be sure but it isn't the regulation that generates the electricity and you could decide to use no electricity.

Of the three places I have lived, 2 of the 3 had water and electricity provided by city departments. Maybe its a west coast thing.
