Willis is not exactly compelling, he just makes unsubstantiated allegations, as usual. The talking points are silly, for example, lambasting Campenni for referrring to Johnson and MacNamara during the Nixon Administration. Why would the man deliberately confuse the issue? Of course, he wouldn't: what he meant was that Johnson and MacNamara established the policy, which was not subsequently changed, of relying on draftees rather than reservists to fill out the forces in Vietnam.

The Campenni article is compelling insofar as it gives one a sense of the position of a pilot in the Air Guard at that time, and of common practices. It addresses the plausibility issue, the whole ignorant "does this pass the smell test" tone that critics of Bush take, and says, "Yes, it makes perfectly good sense."
