If you were a soldier under an officer, you would not have access to your officers journals or details of the citation. Would you challenge a false report? They have.
Kerry's citation is from his witnesses I guess but mostly his word. So regardless reports, it is one persons word against another. Jimmy Carter wasn't there to keep
track of what really happened.

There are definitely problems in the reports though. Of course when challanged some will make the excuse of fog of war.

One problem is the number of the enemy killed in the junk battle. And a unarmed boy was killed that went un-reported according to some soldiers.

Also in one report Kerry report an enemy engagement, but
in his journal he says that he hasn't seen enemy fire.
So his wound was self-inflicted. Probably by accident.

His lies about Combodia are clearly evident. He could have forgotten, even though it was seared in his memory.

If I were a Kerry supporter I would not keep going there.
Admit it, Kerry was not really wanting to fight in Vietnam, he wanted out fast. And that is fine with me.
He just should be honest, and not use his weak military
record as his qualification for being president.

If both of us were in combat, you can take Kerry as an officer, I would take Ollie North.
Kerry was and is clearly unfit for leadership.
