I wonder where would Lucent get $11 B. + (or so) in cash to buy Ascend? After the Octel purchase, I believe they only have a couple of billion in cash left. Lucent can not use stock to purchase until Oct. '98. I find it hard to believe Ascend would sell, anyway. PC Week is terrible with these rumours. I remember when AWRE ran up after they reported CSCO would annouce a deal with them. CSCO ended up going with Alcatel... Mike
