Jake - An interesting article, and I agree with the observations regarding Kerry's selection of advisors. I have no idea whether or not they're decent on balance, but at a minimum it shows he seems to be clueless as to the reaction to his choices. There are a lot of relatively conservative Catholics who continue to vote democratic, and it's beyond me why he'd appoint someone who'd spit on the eucharist (if the story's true and he was aware of it).

But I also think the article undermines its credibility when it comes to the accusations regarding 9/11. Airport security wasn't the real issue - the highjackers were armed with casecutters, which at the time wouldn't have triggered much of a reaction even if they had put them on the tray before going thru the metal detector. I used to put my Swiss Army knife out there all the time with no problems.

Nevertheless, the way Kerry's handled himself over the past few weeks is very, very troubling. From his silly "reporting for duty salute" and giving Al Sharpton a prominent role at the convention, to his whining and attempted censorship of the Vets who oppose him and his hypocrisy regarding the 527's, I find it amazing that anyone could be enthusiastic about him (as opposed to supporting him because he's not Bush).

Two weeks ago, I'd have predicted a Kerry landslide - unless things really change in Iraq. Now I think his best chance for election would be to go on vacation for the next two months and avoid public appearances.
