JeffA, California has traditionally been a conservative state and, with the exception of the Brown Dynasty and another recent aberration, California has largely voted in Republican governors. If one excludes Silicon Gulch, the SF Bay Area, and La La Land, California is populated by people who lean mostly to the conservative. This conservative voting bloc is easily overlooked by those reading the mainstream press.

If one were to check the Gray Davis recall vote and the subsequent election of Arnold on a county by county basis, one would be acutely in touch with this little-realized truism.

Also, please note: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Repbulican, is wildly poplular in California. - Holly
