If Kerry hadn't brought his Vietnam record to the forefront of this campaign, I wouldn't think twice about it. But by doing so, he has invited this close inspection about what actually happened. So far, it looks to me that Kerry's version of events is dishonest. Already, he has backed off on "the turning point of his life" spending Christmas 1968 in Cambodia on Nixon's orders. He has backed off on getting his first PH due to enemy fire. He now admits both stories were false. If not for O'Neill's book, neither admission would be forthcoming. He has a BIG credibility problem, at least with those of us who are following this controversy close enough.
