I am a trial lawyer, and I think it's stupid to generalize about lawyers. Some are crumbs, some are nature's noblemen, most are ordinary people.

Personal injury lawyers don't get paid unless they win so it's crazy to take bogus cases unless you are so dishonest that you are willing to put on fraudulent evidence. I have heard of guys like that in places like Chicago and NY City but almost nowhere else, not even in DC.

The insurance defense industry is very well organized, they share huge databases in order to track fraudulent claims. There are a lot of fraudulent people out there but usually they snow the lawyers, too.

I have been snowed before myself. It's not fun. Especially when the other side wonders whether you are on the take or just dumb.
