Paul Croy (author of The Acid Test, previous post) published several volumes of verse. Here's one from the dust-cover of "Pioneer Pencil Dust:"

DAVE

When we were running barefoot
And I stubbed my toe and cried,
The hurt was always easier
For you were by my side.

Now I want to say, "I love you,"
After all the years we've spanned,
For I must not wait to say it
To your footprints in the sand.

from Brother Bill, by Paul Croy

Bill and I still say that every time we are together.
