Another objective query.

Could this whole swiftvet thing be intended to not only damage Kerry, but also to cool the jets of Kerry's 527 backers?

The swiftboat have hurt Kerry, but I think their major damage has already been done and might have been more effective if done closer to the election. Their attacks will probably have faded significantly by late Oct. and may even cause a little backlash.

Kerry's 527's are loaded for bear and will be flush with cash come Oct., so maybe the swiftboat thing was intended to not just hurt Kerry, but force him to get his own 527's to back off from pummeling Bush.
