Isn't Kerry's comment a bit like trying to sell the idea that room-temperature tea should appeal to both hot tea drinkers and iced tea aficionados?

I heard Bill Bennett was reciting over and over to Buchanan Kerry's comment to Broder that he recounted in a column last week.

"I can appeal to both sides. I fought in the war and then I opposed the war."
