To question some one about a silver star without any evidence that the military can act upon is really dishonoring the military in the worst way possible.
Mary, I read all of your posts. Every word. Because I know you are sincere.
The real issue here is not the the medals. The Democratic Party's strategy is to use a technique Kerry has used successfully for 20 years...Get everyone to talk about his medals. Kerry wants us to focus on his awards. I am not trying to convince you of anything (well, maybe I am). I will say this. If you want to understand John Kerry from the point of view Kerry wants you to have, stay rooted in his medals. If you want to understand the Swiftvets, you have to take your thinking to a level above Kerry's awards.
If Kerry took his awards and went home a hero and left it there...The Swiftvets would be still be living quiet lives, lost in the crowd called America, and John Kerry would have a much more successful campaign going for the presidency.
The Swiftvets are not jealous of Kerry's awards. They don't have to be, they have their own. The Swiftvets are pissed off because Kerry dishonored them and their service, and he dishonored their unit, and he dishonored the US Navy. He did that first in 1971. Then he reopened the old wounds and created some new ones with the book Tour Of Duty.
For the Swiftees the medals are just one of many tools available to use to prove that Kerry is a liar. Once you accept that Kerry lied, it makes his entire service as an officer suspect.
Kerry had a mandate as a commissioned military officer to maintain the highest standards of integrity and to serve with honor. The charge to serve with honor was not just for Kerry to serve honorably. It included a charge to him as an officer to bring honor to his men and his unit. I hope you will agree the integrity part is in jeopardy due to Kerry's retraction of Christmas in Cambodia and his admission that one PH wound was self-inflicted.
The Swiftees say that Kerry's charges that he, they, and their unit committed war atrocities are false charges made solely for future political gain. The first step in getting you to believe that is to prove to you that Kerry is a habitual liar...and I don't mean little fibs. They are proving that Kerry lied habitually about everything.
Once you accept that breaches of integrity are routine for Kerry, it becomes much easier to accept that the charges of war atrocities committed by his unit are lies too.
The Swiftees were insulted by Kerry. Kerry falsely charged them all with dishonorable criminal acts. The goal of the Swiftees is first to set the record straight, thereby restoring their own honor. They want to prove to their families and their neighbors that John Kerry's charges against them are false and always have been.
The Swiftees also believe they are fulfilling a duty and responsibility as citizens and military officers and non-commissioned officers to come forward and inform all Americans about John Kerry's demonstrated weaknesses in the key leadership traits of integrity and honor.
Part of the officer code is to neither lie, cheat nor steal, nor accept those who do in their midst. The Swiftvets are saying that Kerry lied to become a hero and he lied again to make them all war criminals. The Swiftvets are saying that Kerry cheated the system for his own personal advantage. The Swiftvets are saying that John Kerry stole their valor and combat heroism.
That message and proofs are clear enough to me. To understand it one must first get beyond the medal issue. unclewest |
