Yes, We prolonged an historical inevitability in vietnam. Thats what the vets cant get over. In their heart of hearts i think they know this and with all the dying and killing that went on their, they must view that time for what it was--holy hell. At least in WW2, those vets were fighting for something real and tangible. so when they came home they moved on. Yes they killed and had buddies died in their arms but they were indeed fighting for the countrys very survival.
Is WOT and by extension War in iraq the former or the latter? I vote the latter for even with all the failings and warts in iraq in particular its still a war we must win. Mike
