LOL! What lie? O'Neill was meeting the POTUS for the first time in his life. He was unaware of Nixon's secret recordings.
As O'Neill has said publicly, he immediately corrected himself after misstating that he was in Cambodia. He also explained how it was impossible to go into Cambodia on the canals & waterways he was patrolling at the time.
<font color=purple><font size=4> "I was in Cambodia, sir. I worked along the border," <font color=black>
BTW, at that time (and after Kerry went home), we were now openly involved in Cambodia, with troops on the ground, etc.
Oh, FWIW, O'Neill never repeatedly lied about clandestine trips into Cambodia. O'Neill never falsely claimed he had been shot at by Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and had the president of the United States telling the American people that he was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia ... that he had that memory which is "seared -- seared" -- in him.
And O'Neill never attempted to use multiple lies about Cambodia for personal or political gain, like Kerry.
One more thing. Isn't it odd that you focus on this piss poor stretch at claiming a lie, like it actually proves something genuinely significant? Meanwhile, you show absolutely no concern about an unrepentant liar like Kerry who has had to retract his false Christmas in Cambodia story - an event he claimed was "seared, seared" into him, a literal turning point in his life - so much so that he claimed it was a turning point for him against the war - but it turns out this epiphany was a total fabrication made up by Kerry for personal & political gain?
