There is not a wide gulf between us in our view of the current situation in iraq. I might be a little less negative on the current govt than you are and a little more hopeful. Baathist/terrorist alliance scares me more than the shiaa and if it moves in that direction, iran may feel forced to intervene on the shiaa side which is a mixed blessing.
The new admin whether bush or kerry will have trouble implementing progressive decisions. Bush will have to admit error. Kerry wont be able to equivocate any longer. And in any case the politicians of the opposite party will be there to pillory the president if they try to do some of what we sort of proposed in our posts. And that stinks too. Whatever happened to bipartisan fp. It has been more bipolar than bipartisan in the last two admins. Mike
