There has been a lot of talk over the last few months about Kerry's votes to cut defense spending. The interesting thing is that there has been little or no discussion about Cheney's desire to do the same thing. Republicans try and paint Kerry as weak on defense by using examples that their own administration is guilty of too. The Bush administration cannot call Kerry weak on defense unless they are willing to call their on VP weak on defense. In 1990 Cheney himself bragged that he "cut almost $65 billion out of the five-year defense program" and that subsequent proposals would "take another $167 billion out."
