The decisions of the judges (umpires) is part of the game. In this case however, it was not the judgement that is in question, it is the math that is in question. Mathematics is not part of the game.

In any case, the heroics of the athletes are not in question. It is with the policy makers. The old people who don't play the game, but want to control the game. Then there are the partisan fans. That is also okay. That is part of the spirit of the games. But, the ultranationalists who see this as vindication for their whatever - that is what tarnishes everything.
