I think the issue goes back after WW1 when the idea was that was the war to end all wars. After that many in the US did not want to go into WW2. Then once we had new confidence we had a stalemate in Korea and defeat in Vietnam. Then when we thought the cold war was over, all the problems would be solved. We had a technological edge, but Bin Laden backed by the US found the loop hope when fighting the Soviets in Afganistan. So now our enemy uses our technology, cell phones, internet to attack our spirit. The pattern is there will never be peace without strength. Many think it is just a lack of understanding the other side. But they have spelled out their plan and we must be determined to stop it.
