Ok, say it is a dead certainty. At what point do we stop amending the Constitution to make absolutely sure that some state might pass a law that allows people to mess up their lives? Like radar detectors. They are illegal in some states, legal in others. Shouldn't the laws be more uniform? And so on...

Not to trivialize the issue. But where do the lines get drawn? At some point, the US becomes like the European countries, where they have states, but they are strictly administrative. They don't pass laws and such.
