Iraq was in the WMD race as soon as Saddam took power. Jacques Chirac sold him two nuclear reactors, tried to sell him weapons grade uranium, but his boss Mitterand stopped that part of the sale.

There's no evidence Iraq used anything from the US in making his WMD's, which he used during the Iran-Iraq war. His own sons-in-laws informed the world of his continuing WMD programs when they defected to Jordan in 1995.

Amazing that Bush-haters feel compelled to defend Saddam.
