But there is an additional problem because with US support the above end can still be the result years from now, and after many more american deaths. The above was scenario was posed to me during the vietnam war early on and from that point forward tens of thousands americans would die and the bad guys gained control anyway. I think we have to put some time limits on this thing if only to get the better iraqis on point as well as some geographical fall back positions for separate kurd and shiaa states. Go back to the no fly zones and expand them in size and turn them into no drive zones and maybe such a solution works.
Also there is no sunni sistani in the wings to make the triangle livable. In the end it will boil down to a fight between nationalists, baathists and terrorists. We can help the anti-baath elements but perhaps to no avail. Mike
