I agree. It is impossible to conceive of Laura Bush stooping to that level. The difference between the two women (what Heinz Kerry wore and what Bush would not) reminds me of an equally revealing difference between the two candidates: when asked about Kerry's wartime record, Bush said without hesitation that it was "heroic," no quibbling, no demand for Kerry to reveal all his still-secret military records. Kerry, on the other hand, has yet to be even slightly gracious about his opponent's service (to say the least).

Now that others are questioning Kerry's record and demanding the full release of his files, Kerry is busy crying "Foul!" and demanding everyone/anyone/someone shut these people up, while he continues to accept no responsibility for the antics and outrages committed by his supporters. Personally, I find people who believe in free speech for their point of view only frightening, no matter what their point of view.

It seems to me that the Bush's are far more comfortable being who they are than are the Kerrys. (Can you imagine the Bush's pretending to eat at Wendy's for a photo-op and then retiring to an expensive, private, catered luncheon? At the least, Laura Bush would know what chili was and not need someone to explain it to her. :-)
