Don't dismiss this analogy just because the object of affection is an underage and unwilling participant. The point is that choices can be made unconciously, yet it's still a choice. Free will reigns no matter how we're genetically dispositioned or what we feel like at the moment.

Three days ago, the police arrested a guy who had tried to kidnap an 11 year old. He was a 37 year old sex offender who had just spent 16 years in a state pen......most of his adult life. He now will be sent back to prison for the rest of his life.

Do you really believe that that guy chose to reoffend; that he really wants to go back into prison for the rest of his life?

A few weeks ago they had a sex offender on the tube who wants to be castrated. He's afraid he won't be able to keep himself from reoffending.

From all I know and have learned about this kind of sexual deviancy, there is no choice, conscious or unconscious, in the act. Now whether its a aberrant gene or environmental conditioning or mental illness or all three that turns a guy onto an 8 year old girl is unclear to me but, very frankly, what is clear is that choice has little do with it. In fact, some of them have a hard time understanding that its not normal even though society does.

And to pick up a theme from Z..........a nude 8 year old girl does not give me "a friggin' erection"! Period! How come? I don't remember choosing to like adults vs kids.
