Deficit spending is indeed bad for the dollar, no question about it. We wouldn't be running a deficit if we simply followed the constutition. The constitution clearly provides for a national defense. The constitution provides for PROMOTING the general welfare...not PROVIDING IT. 1400 billion goes out in mandatory entitlement programs every year at the expense of being able to defend ourselves. The 1400 billion has to be provided before we can spend 1 dollar on a defense budget. So in a deficit free world, there is a good chance that defense spending would have to be zero. Good thinking Michael Moore and George Soros and Jimmy Carter.
