Ted, Do you really believe that that guy chose to reoffend; that he really wants to go back into prison for the rest of his life?

So since he never had a choice to begin with, it would be cruel and unusual punishment to incarcerate him for a crime he couldn't help but commit.


No. He made a bad choice. He was not ignorant of the law. He knew the consequences of his bad choice.

We all have the capacity to choose, Ted. That's what makes the human spirit able to overcome just about any obstacle.

There is one theory that most of these guys do these acts when things are not going well........like some women who shop-til-they-drop when they are depressed, or people who are sex addicts. It seems they don't make these bad choices when things are going well but rather when things turn bad.

And yes we have the ability to choose. That's what AA teaches alcoholics.....that they can choose not to drink. However, with pedophiles, there is not a lot of support for them.......they are the lowest of the low.
