>Going to war against Iraq is very tough to explain, too ... but you aren't cutting Bush any slack on THAT. Sort of a double standard, wouldn't you say?
But it was wrong, and people are dying because of it.
Kerry was right in protesting the war, in retrospect. There's a difference!
>I don't think the country is in a state of "fear", but they damned well had better be paying attention. As to how "high" the chances are, we can't tolerate it if it is a one-in-a-million shot.
There's a one-in-a-million shot that a nuclear reactor blows up by accident... there's a one in a million shot that a plane crashes into downtown LA by accident... trillions of dollars might prevent that, but we go nuts about those.
>We haven't spent trillions and it is certainly premature to declare ANYTHING in Iraq a failure. We're watching the birth of a new government. These things take years, decades.
You realize that now... did you say that 18 months ago? Did Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, et al? No. No. No. Throwing flowers. With that as your frame of reference, we've failed.
Things are getting worse, not better, in Iraq. What will it take to make them better?
>One of the principle differences between adults and children is that children expect instant gratification. Why is it the Left ALSO expects instant gratification?
The left didn't predict Iraqis throwing flowers.
