The war with AL Qaida is the war on terror now. Bush is trying to expand that into some mythical global terror situation as if the Chechens and Hamas and Basque Separatists are OUR problem too. They're not.

Timothy McVeigh types may be our problemn, but now some guy in Portugal unless he's been recruited by Al Qaida.

Clinton showed how to make peace with terrorists in Ireland. And he almost succeeded in Israel. In fact now I'll bet a new Clintonesque offer would be accepted by Arafat and others. We can win this war, but not by invading mariginally involved countries and occupying them primarily because they have big oilfields for Exxon and Halliburton ro profit from. Iraq was not the war on terror until Bush invited all the terrorists in to "bring it on!". Before that, Iraq had fewer terrorists hanging around than any other country in the region because Saddam was a ruthless secularist who butchered Islamist extremists.
