Actually, what I meant was that Americans can be sued, not that that's a deterrent, for giving out personal information entrusted to their care. Identity theft is a big deal and cause for concern. Banks would have us believe it's caused by folks' carelessness in not shredding garbage. Then I read that organized crime places their people in low-level bank jobs to steal IDs. In other words, identity theft is actually an inside job. I read that other countries don't have the problems to the extent we have them in the US. But thanks for your tip wrt maintaining an identity.
