Who told you? The RNC? I have never heard your version of the story but I gave it a pass the last time you mentioned it

What's with this RNC stuff tonight?

Its not just tonite. Its when a Rep. on the thread comes up with a version that's not the general word on the street. I then assume their source is either the RNC or Fox News. Nothing personal! <g>

I can't find a good web link, but the announcers discussed this during the gymnastics coverage after it happened.

Here's the first link I could find to show you it's not just my story:

goheavy.com;

I think you missed this author's last statement in the article:

"Anyway, that's my take on the whole situation and why Paul Hamm is the (legitimate) Men's All Around gymnastics gold medal winner."

It was his opinion; however that's not what's being said officially.

Yang won by a tenth of a point fair and square. Everyone knows that but Hamm refuses to acknowledge the obvious

Who told you? The DNC? You seem to be going out of your way to pull against America...typical liberal <g>

I was waiting for that one.

Here is what I understand the situation to be:

<font color=brown>"But there’s a little problem. Even though the rules say he should keep the medal, the fact remains that he won it because the judges goofed in rating the parallel bar routine of Yang, giving it a starting value of 9.9 instead of the 10 it should have had. The extra one-tenth of a point would have given Yang the gold.

It was an honest mistake, but that makes it no less stupid. And it could have been corrected on the spot if the Koreans had noticed it and brought it up before the competition on the bars was concluded. But the rules say once the contestants moved on to the next apparatus, all avenues of appeal are closed."<font color=black>

In other words, if the judges had done the starting score correctly, Yang would have won.

It was the IOC who would not agree to the second gold

That's not what the report on the ABC Evening news said the other day. They reported that Korea would not agree to a 2nd gold, and that they would sue Hamm to get it. They even interviewed the head of the Korean olympic group saying as much. They then continued that the Americans withdrew their support for a 2nd gold after that.

That's not my understanding:

Unfortunately for Hamm, the bad karma from the controversy has started:
