Alan, my comments are not directed to anyone in particular but as I read the many posts, most of them arguments and self serving, prideful beliefs about how we know the correct understanding of texts written thousands of years ago, having undergone translation to different languages many times by frail imperfect men who were just as prone to error as we are.

How many Mother Teresas' were there among them or us for that matter? Are we living Saints who can easily bath lepers or hold a dying AIDS victim as they lie helplessly in the gutter waiting for death? If any actually believe that they are capable of performing this act could they do it for a lifetime?

I compliment anyone who can humble himself in print but how many of us perform good acts while all the while hiding a selfish need by doing that act of contrition?

We are a sinful bunch, no doubt about it! That is why I can only plead the sinless blood of Christ and hope that he will forgive me of my constant sins and selfishness.

I fully understand that there is no good thing about me and I only post this to ask.

How many of us perform acts of selflessness without a selfish payoff for us that we are hiding behind our good deeds?

Not many I would argue.

There is no need to comment if you don't feel like it. Maybe I have been watching too much of the election and dirty politics. (smile)
