If you think that universal health care will cost too much, then consider how much money could have been saved in Africa if health care were available to everyone and the AIDs epidemic was averted? Now billions will be needed to stop the spread and trillions lost in the inevitable economic slow down. Every dollar spent will be like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

We need to think efficiency. The more people under the umbrella...the less the umbrella costs per person.

Hospitals are already carrying the burden of the poor and uninsured...they pass those costs on to other patients and insurance programs. There is no free lunch. But when health care needs are ignored, the cost to society later is even more.

The best program will get the most people involved in paying for it up front. This will keep overall health care costs down. Outbreaks of infectuous disease to a minimum.

Tell you what...we'll call healthcare part of the war on terror. Because if Al Qaeda were to seed an infectuous disease into our population where do you think they would release the viruses? Of course...in the inner cities where the uninsured poor will have no access to medical care...allowing the deadly diseases and viruses to multiply and destroy the country.

The most effective suicide bombers might be terrorists infected with the AIDs virus who try to have unprotected sex with as many Americans as possible. That way they get their 72 virgins before and after they die.
