>To me, Kerry's obsession with Vietnam says more about his state of mind than his character or ability to lead.

Huh? Ummm... he had to go to the whole Vietnam thing because he was getting attacked for being "weak" and "looking French" at a time when the Republicans have taken advantage of 9/11/01 to scare America shitless. The fact that he served in Vietnam while the hawks in avoiding doing so despite their support for the war should've been his advantage.

And, it should've been unassailable. But, once again, another veteran got blindsided by the Atwater/Rove political machine. The fact that Kerry has had to stay on Vietnam is not an indicator of his state of mind or his ability to lead, it's an indicator that Bush has a more effective political team than he does.
