<blowing away Bush's big party> .....

.......... You make a very good point. The networks would not have turned to Kerry had Bush not been so uninspiring tonight. I am assuming he, in fact, was uninspiring. I didn't watch a single minute of the Republican National Convention. So I wouldn't know. But, it seems to be the consensus here that he was particularly uninspiring tonight on his big night.

Frankly, Bush is almost always uninspiring. I'll tell you, I have to admit that I thought his speech to the joint session of Congress right after September 11, 2001, was mesmerizing. Since then, though, he's been nothing but a flag-waiving jerk. He's really nothing more than a fascist.

Kerry was brilliant tonight, positioning himself for a network takeover. I am impressed. I hope he has more brilliant manuvers like that up his sleeve. I hope some day he talks to the nation forcefully and sensibly about his position regarding Iraq.

I'm sorry, but I can't put all the blame for 9/11 on Bush's doorstep. It took a lot of bureaucratic stupidity and lack of vision for that to occur. Seriously, Clinton deserves some blame.

I part ways with Bush on Afghanistan. I was behind that mission. But it was bungled. Totally. It appeared at first to have been a forceful mission. But, in retrospect, it is clear that it was done in a half-assed fashion., Bin Laden was not captured and, when you get down to it, Pakistan may have tied Bush's hands. Bush has so many strange relationships (Pakistan, Saudi Arabia) that seem to get in the way of him doing anything meaningful.

But Iraq? What a fiasco!!! Pointless, costly, and, in fact, counterproductive. I know I may sound like a doomsday kind of person when I say this--but I think Iraq could lead the United States into virtual bankruptcy. This debt is becoming astronomical.
