No I didn't. But that was what Bush Sr. used to build support. And if sanctions are chosen, you just can't say "they aren't working, let's roll the tanks" after a couple of weeks. That isn't even enough time to try to negotiate a withdrawal.

Kerry knows that. That is why he voted against use of force at that time. Trying to paint that vote as being weak and unfit is, at best, a distortion. Not that Cheney was above doing that during his speech...


That's one of the most creative excuses I have ever heard. And not true, BTW.

Sanctions, and UN related maneuvers are just a cover to bring aboard more allies, which in turn is to make our action be perceived as "multilateral" vs. "unilateral".

Kerry should be smart enough to know that. If he is not smart enough to understand that, would he ever bring more allies on our side for possible future actions? This ha been, BTW, one of the only consistent criticisms of handling of Iraq II.
