I'll grant that a full court press on the veracity issue might have been premature earlier. But Kerry has got to start soon. And he needs to be prepared, I'll guarantee you that the Bush campaign has a lot more up their sleeves than just their arms. Smirk's basic approach is that he can escalate things further and faster than his opponent can or will. Expect whisper campaigns, more of those Internet e-mails with the little tag "how many people can you send the TRUTH to?", 527s springing up and launching kamakazi attacks, phone calls purporting to be polls asking leading questions ("and if you were informed that Kerry was funding Chechen terrorists targeting Russian schools, how would you vote?"), photoshopped pictures of Kerry with farm animals, etc...

You're right......you fight pond scum with slime......its the only thing they understand. And Bush has so many achilles heels he looks like a dart board after a national dartboard tournament. Kerry needs to keep hitting those weaknesses over and over and over again.......until he is sick of saying them. And when he gets sick of it, then Edwards has to take over. And when they both get sick of it, then their wives.

When the campaign gets done, the American public will know that they have in office people of questionable character who play fast and loose with the truth and who are leading this nation down a primrose path to hell.
