I suspect that they will end up having three debates, though by the time the last debate occurs everyone has essentially tuned them out. The format stinks and the moderators do not challenge the candidates if their answers are disingenuous and off topic. There is generally no spontaneity. Gore's animal impressions in 2000 were the exception.

The first debate is the critical one. If Bush can manage a draw in the first debate and is leading in the polls, Kerry might feel the need to be more aggressive during the last two debates. That is a risky strategy. Kerry cannot afford to appear rude to Bush.

If I am not mistaken, the Cheney-Edwards format will be a duplicate of the 2000 format, with the two candidates sitting together at a table. Just two buddies shooting the shit. Edwards might feel a bit uncomfortable assaulting that father figure sitting across from him. LOL
