My guess would be that Chinu did the ban, told CR of it in PM, and CR posted it. Maybe there's areason Chinu did not want to say himself that he did the ban. Moderators often ban with no word at all that it has even been done.

Now you see the IP address of the PC logged in, right? So if Chinu and CR did not operate from the same computer, but one logged in as the other, you could detect that, right?

Theoretical question: My understanding is that there are multiple aliases operating from a single account. One I have heard of is X the Unknown and cosmicforce. Is this true? (Not implying any wrongdoing, just requesting clarification.)

Anecdotally, that thread does often appear to be run by committee. It goes from cheerleading to debating to bashing, and the "rules" of what is and isn't permissible seem to change with the phases of the moon. Whatever floats the participants' boats, I suppose.
If you ever figure out how that thread is run, there are loads of us who would like to know. :-)
