We have no moral or ethical principle guiding us in Iraq. We are there for OIL. That's been abundantly clear since we watched chaos in the streets while our troops carefully guarded the Oil Ministry.

An interest? Absolutely. Too many Americans think it's OUR OIL under THEIR SAND. Iraqis also think that as well.

A moral duty? Absolutely not. We cannot say we are acting in a moral way and have anyone (including ourselves) believe it.

The point is now 100% POLITICAL. If Iraq is truly sovereign, then ANY Iraqi government can tell us to leave and we should. If Iraq dissolves into even more chaos than it is already in (it's already in civil war since the government has given up on 40% of the country for the elections), that's THEIR PROBLEM.

Our problem becomes alternative energy. It is a mistake to think that only the US can solve problems in the world. We make as many problems as we solve and Iraq is one truly botched situation.
