here is a question for anyone who might have an answer to my problem..i have a year old gateway, running win xp , i have been through 3 modems. interestingly enough the modem doesnt work if i put it in the upper top slot, only the 2nd slot down. i am an ordinary women and know all too well how to replace my modem..should not have to know this with a computer that is just 1 yr old...ok..here is my problem...i use dial up, and in order to connect i must take the clip out of the phone jack, hit ...connect..wait for it to say , cant connect...then plug back the clip...hit "dial up" and then it connects...or "retstart" computer with clip out. then when fully on, put clip back in and hit "connect"...no one has been able to give me an answer..gateway keeps mailing me modems..(which is why i knwo how to install them)everyday im on my knees under my desk unclipping this and doing aerobics just to connect anit fun!! helppppppppppp
