The question becomes whether the demos will have to stoop to the reptilian level of the republican smear dogs. It's against our nature to lie and smear, and belief in fairness is one of our defining characteristics. But when one party lowers the bar to the subgutter, sometimes you have no choice but to play along.

The repubs are better at that, being a part of their normal philosophy, as they have no limits or scruples in the quest of victory. Much of the public truly is ignorant and influenceable by this level of trash. So the demos are going to have to decide soon: will it become necessary to play the game as dirty as the repubs do ? There's plenty of ammo to use against the most dirty, corrupt and reactionary administration of our lifetime.
