One of the reasons I follow this board is because the IDC cult has stayed away from it. Typically, wherever QCOM is discussed these people take every opportunity to cut QCOM down, and generally without a thread of evidence. Anyway, a couple of points on recent posts:

Ref IDC - I believe history shows this is a poorly managed company, w/out ability to develop its own products. When they were young (IMM) they subed the development of TDMA to Linkabit. They later developed a litigation division (IDT) to attempt to apply radio wave patents to cellular and other technologies. Thay have not been too succesful with this. They purchased the B-CDMA technology a few years ago, and had to go outside (Siemans) for help with that development. They have a product (Ultraphone) which costs more to produce than the they sell them for. The real story with this company is that they are still around! Now, as we investors all know, the company does not always determine the stock price. This company continues to lure investors with their grand promises and rich alliances. As such, there still may be opportunities to make money on the stock. Personally, I would be weary only of long term positions.

Ref Europe/Asia 70% of the market.

I think this is fairly accurate, but it is like saying 5% and 65% together make up 70%. While it is true, the 5% ( or Europe in this case) is still very small. Asia is the largest market, and it is focusing very heavily on CDMA.

Ref # of CDMA and TDMA systems-

Currently there are 4 opperating CDMA systems, and 50 more are scheduled to go online this year. While TDMA had the 2 year headstart, CDMA will rapidly surpass it in terms of # users and markets. And for you IDC ers' out there, most TDMA systems are GSM, and IDC does not get royalties for GSM systems.

Good luck to all!
