There were several reasons for the war, one of which was Saddam's intentions to develop WMD's. You can look up the Congressional resolution authorizing the war that Sen. Kerry voted for if you don't believe me. You'll find much more there than WMD.

Besides the state of Iraq's WMD stockpile at the time of the war was 1) unknown and 2) irrelevant.

Again, you don't have to take my word for point 1 either. You merely have to read the things Clinton administration personnnel, including Bill Clinton himself, William Cohen, and Al Gore. They are all on record as expressing the belief that Saddam's WMD's were a threat.

Re. point 2 above, the WMD's Saddam had intentions to create was just as important as what he had on hand in 2003.

The Bush administration can't possibly claim it is there to free the Iraqis.

Of course, we can. Just read the Congressional resolution. It's in there.

The Reagan and Bush administrations supported Saddam even while he was gassing his own people with chemicals that we provided. Sorry, the extent of American support for Saddam is greatly exaggerated by leftists. But you guys seem to follow the "blame America for everything evil in the world" philosophy.

he conclusion is that we're in Iraq for oil. We make no secret the free flow of oil from the ME is an interest of the US and the world. But we have not annexed any oil reserves. And Iraq and Kuwait's oil reserves remain under the control of their own governments.
