Frontline did a great piece on ReligiousGeorge. In a nut (really) shell:
- George was the black sheep of the family. Jeb was the golden boy.
- George drank a lot, his one skill was backslapping and remembering the names of everyone --- politician!
- George, having been an insider trader and having bankrupted at least 2 companies, was in a very depressed state of mind when he found a old-white-guys christian discussion group.
- George finds Jesus or Satan dressed up as Jesus (more likely considering...)
- PoppyBush, whom George embarrassed time and again, was in a tight race when, lo and behold, it became frighteningly clear to the Reps that the evangelical christian vote could put Poppy into the WH.
- Poppy, being a moderate, wasn't that presentable to the religious fundamentalists but, lo and behold, George was!
- George helps Poppy win, George is no longer the black sheep but he's still a bit grimy.
- Ever since, George has pretended to be an evangelical Christian although he's really not.
- George tells Woodward that he doesn't believe in an afterlife and takes ZERO responsibility for what history will say about him...'duh, we'll all be dead.'
- Laura and Barbara (and probably George) support abortion AND Cheney backs gay marriage --- these are the two big issues that go 100% against George's evangelical pretensions.
-- Bush is a politician since he's too stupid to be anything else. He runs oil companies into the ground but he remembers the name of every worker in the stadium. Gee. What a great role model for the next generation: be stupid, be drunk, be lazy but just remember
