Bush uses religion as a political tool. It's very iffy whether he's actually a spiritual man, though many ex-drinkers have to turn to God to get over it. Who knows? We do know he kowtows to the religious right as a strategic move. They are a big army of foot soldiers and are also willing to be dirty tricksters. Some of them were behind the McCain smear campaign.
