What I see in the two paragraphs is that 9/11 is causing our economic problems (1st paragraph). But some of the problems has deeper roots extending to years beyond 9/11 (second paragraph)

I see these two paragraphs as contradictory, don't you think? You maybe onto something that is not clear yet.

Let me rephrase my question this way. Are the events of 9/11 aggravating the problems started by events in years before 9/11? Is that what you are saying?
