Ann: I have the feeling that the shocked Democrats are just now entering into that chamber of horrors where the evidence can no longer be denied. But can they face the debilitating truth? Not as long as they have a single delusional hair left on their shiney noggins.

They are beginning to resemble those familiar little children at Disneyworld, slowly becoming aware that the very last thrill ride is almost over and they will soon have to go back to their dreary homes. They start to whimper, then cry, then kick their mom's and pop's shins, then throw themselves on the ground foaming at the mouths and refusing to leave the amusement park.

Then the lights go out but mummy and daddy have saved them from themselves. They'll be back next year comes the sweet assurance. For the democrats, the promise is in four years, say in the 2008 presidential election.
