Some things are just wrong - its a moral issue.

In WW2 we had little choice but to effect wide spread bombing to prosecute a war we did not start. It was the technology of the era.

Today I would argue that technology has rendered MAD obsolete. We could selectively counter attack (perhaps with nukes, perhaps not) a North Korea or Iran. Totalitarian states do not enjoy the support of their populace and decapitation strikes should work. Widespread counter response even to the nuking of a US city should not be necessary.

Counter-intuitive as it may seem, liberals who fight the development of 'baby' nukes and other advanced systems put us in a position where we would be forced to target civilian populations.
