Okay, Alex, take two Excedrin for your headache and stick around for a moment, because I have a serious question. I have been doing a lot of reading about hormone replacement therapy, and note in your profile that you are a medical chemist!!!
I was shocked to hear about alleged abuses of pregnant mares in the making of Premarin. I don't really want to participate in anything that hurts animals. PETA charges that they are narrowly confined, deprived of enough water, and otherwise harmed. And what do you think about vegetarian diets high in soy protein and fiber as an alternative to hormone replacement therapy?
If you don't know or care or have any opinion whatsoever about this subject, I can understand that!!! It's just that American women are being urged so strongly by the medical establishment to take these drugs that I am a little puzzled, and looking for alternatives, etc. I am a little rebellious by nature, and like playing the devil's advocate!! I also note that vegetarian magazines offer natural supplements which purport to do the same things. Anybody know anything about these?

Anyway, I would be interested in any and all opinions.
Alex, I note that people are starting to offer their words of wisdom on child-rearing techniques to you. Obviously, different stuff works for different parents, and even within individual families, different children respond uniquely. If you and Loving Spouse are reasonably healthy emotionally, you will do fine. I went to the bookstore and briefly scanned the entire variety of books, and bought the few that made sense to me. Then, when I had a question I really couldn't answer, I knew the author's underlying philosophy basically agreed with mine, and was confident in trying the solutions to specific problems that were suggested.
Anyway, I'm sure you will be a happy little loving family!! |
